Thanks guys!

Hey guys, just wanted to say a big thank you to all who showed up for my surprise birthday party this weekend.

Hey guys, just wanted to say a big thank you to all who showed up for my surprise birthday party this weekend. It meant a lot to me and I really appreciate it. And I loved the gifts, I’ve been pondering and pondering which direction to go with my shiny new Eldar army. 🙂 Lots of stuff to decide, colour schemes, army build, poses, armaments, and so forth. I may even be able to supplement my army with some of my old pewter figures, gotta double-check what I’ve got.

Again, thanks so much guys, it was great to see you again, and I had a lot of fun. 🙂

  1. I’m very glad to hear it. Maybe next time we’ll get to see you a bit more as we won’t be skulking around in the shadows, just out of sight, waiting for an ambush birthday party for most of the weekend. 😉

As for the Eldar, I don’t believe you’ll be able to re-use the old miniatures as they’re probably in the slightly larger scale that they used to come in. I found this out when I found my old pewter marines recently. That said, once you get an HQ, you’ve got a legal Eldar army and you’re good to go. I look forward to crushing them beneath my heels!

Oh, and on a side note, I went to the Bay in Pointe Claire and they don’t have Classy anymore either. It’s looking like I’ll need to wear a suit to the wedding. 🙁 Or maybe I can rent a similar tux from somewhere around here, if I could see what the one we’re supposed to have is like.

  2. But, again, lots of fun this weekend! And it’s too bad you missed out on our awesome Savage Worlds zombie game by candlelight! 😉

It was very romantic… and MACABRE! (muwa ha ha ha!)

  3. Glad you enjoyed the surprise John. Was good seeing you, don’t see you often.

Yes, looking very forward to crushing some Eldar in the future. And yes the mini Zombie game we had was pretty fun. Could have been a touch more serious, but was still really damn fun!

  4. Yup glad you enjoyed it John. If you need tips for painting we all have some. Youtube is also your friend.

The zombie game was just epic. I think it was what it needed to be. I mean a Yoga instructor and obese student are quite the pair. Not to mention zombies coming out of a dumpster and other things lol Was almost like thriller.

Definitely have to do that more often though when we all get together. Was just so much fun.

  5. Hey neat, I did some poking around and I pulled out my old pewter Warhammer 40k minis and when comparing it to the actual size images on the back of the box, it seems like they’re the same scale. That said, I also realized that not only do I have more units than I thought, I actually have all the units I need for a full army, HQ units included. I’ve got 3 Phoenix Lords, which are HQ units, and so I could use two of those, I also have 8 Rangers, and am only one unit shy each to have a squad each of Warp Spiders, Striking Scorpions, and Dark Reapers. So all in all, If I pick up one of the small packs for each of those I’ll have quite the battle force once I get everything assembled and painted.

  6. Very cool, John! It’s unusual for a battleforce to come with HQ units of any kind, so consider yourself lucky! As long as you’ve got two troop squads and an HQ choice, you meet the minimum requirements for a legal army.

  7. Yup, although my battle force didn’t come with the HQ units. I just appear to have had 3 of them lying around from our days of walking down to Fantasia at lunch in high school. Seems I bought more WH40k than I remembered back then, what with all the sales James used to have. I’m still tempted to pick up a squad of Warlocks, though, always wanted some of them.

  8. Oh, I see! I’m no longer confused now. All is well.

You’ll eventually probably get your army up to around 1500-2000 points. That’s a good comfortable level that gives you enough room to swap things in and out for different deployments. So it’s definitely a good idea to think about how you’re going to expand your army. 🙂
